Checking in at Long An's 'Happiness Roads'

Long An is a captivating region, beautifully blending the dynamic energy of Vietnam's Southeast with the serene, fertile charm of the Mekong Delta.
The Western Gateway: A Harmonious Blend of Beauty
Serving as a 'bridge' between the Southeast region and the Mekong Delta, Long An is not only a dynamic young industrial hub but also embodies the poetic and peaceful charm characteristic of the 'Land of Nine Dragons'.
Venturing into its districts, you'll easily discover roads adorned with vibrant flowers, vast green rice fields, fragrant lotus ponds, and endless melaleuca forests. Some of these paths have been lovingly nurtured by the gentle, simple hands of local residents over time, transforming into beautiful routes that make travelers from near and far eager to visit and witness their charm firsthand.
The Poetic Ten O'Clock Flower Road in Que My Thanh
This road is affectionately called the 'Happiness Road' because of the vibrant carpet of ten o'clock flowers that blankets a 300m-long dike, meticulously cultivated and cared for year after year by an elderly farming couple. It's also a source of joy in their twilight years. Their home, nestled at the end of this path, is their 'unchanging, precious' sanctuary.
Despite their advanced age, the couple's generous spirits and romantic hearts remain 'young.' They possess an immense love for beauty, truly embodying the philosophy: 'Living close to nature, joyful and free, is divine.'

The Poetic Ten O'Clock Flower Road in Que My Thanh (Tan Tru District)
From the Provincial Martyrs' Cemetery, I followed the roundabout towards Tan Tru District. At Lac Tan intersection, I asked for directions to Que My Thanh and Nhum Bridge. The locals here were simple, warm-hearted, and cheerfully gave detailed directions. The road was narrow and winding, but on both sides stretched endless rice fields. I made sure to wake up early, stopped in Tan An City for breakfast, and then leisurely set off, arriving just as the ten o'clock flowers were in full bloom, creating a truly poetic and vibrant scene amidst the lush green rice paddies.
The Rustic Charm of Ong Do Nghi Road
Not far from Que My Thanh's Ten O'Clock Flower Road is Ong Do Nghi Road, a project initiated by Tan Tru District to socialize rural transportation criteria in new rural development. Its special highlight is two rows of royal palm trees stretching across the rice fields, creating a poetic, rustic, yet incredibly charming beauty.

It's known that during the road's construction, youth union members, local youth, and residents planted over 200 palm trees along both sides. After a long period of care and maintenance, these two rows of palm trees have grown lush and green.
During harvest season, when tired from plowing or weeding, farmers often rest under the palm trees, relaxing in the breeze and immersing themselves in nature's beauty. Moreover, young couples in the hamlet and town often choose this spot as an ideal dating place. This is why locals affectionately call this road the 'Happiness Road'.
Whenever visitors from afar arrive, word spreads about this poetic road, leading more and more young people to travel many kilometers to experience the peaceful, gentle feeling of walking along what is known as the province's most beautiful road.
The Unique Melaleuca Forest Path in Tan Lap Floating Village
Despite being featured in Hoang Thuy Linh's 'Banh Troi Nuoc' music video, Tan Lap Floating Village Ecotourism Area still seems relatively unknown. However, this has allowed it to retain its pristine appearance and the distinctive characteristics of its melaleuca forest ecosystem.
From Tan An City, I turned onto National Highway 62, heading towards Moc Hoa District. After about an hour's drive, I reached the ecotourism area's welcome gate. After parking and purchasing tickets at the reception house, our group was taken into the forest by 'tac rang' (a type of motorboat).

From a distance, the towering watchtower was clearly visible. Standing atop it, one can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire forest.
Upon stepping ashore, we were immediately captivated by the 5km paved road leading deep into the melaleuca forest. It's a rather winding path, seemingly hinting at something mysterious. If visiting with a large group on a weekend, you might consider bringing snacks and drinks for a picnic experience in the forest.

Tan Lap Floating Village is also a popular choice for many couples taking wedding photos. Consequently, the path through the forest has naturally become known as the 'Love Road' or 'Happiness Road'.

Phuoc Loc Tho Ancient Village is situated on Provincial Road 824, in Hamlet 2, Huu Thanh Commune, Duc Hoa District, Long An. 4. Tan Lap Floating Village
This is considered an ideal destination for those who love to reconnect with wild nature and explore the riverine culture of the Southwestern region. The name Tan Lap Floating Village comes from the fact that, before it was planned, during the annual flood season around July of the lunar calendar, residents here would raise their house floors with the rising water, making it look like a village floating on the vast expanse of water when viewed from afar.

5. Lang Sen Wetland Reserve
Lang Sen, officially known as Lang Sen Wetland Nature Reserve, is located in the low-lying terrain of Dong Thap Muoi, spanning the communes of Vinh Loi, Vinh Dai, and Vinh Chau A in Tan Hung District, Long An.
